During the December/January holidays the local fruit and vegetable market, Zapote, is turned into a popular carnival. The billed attraction is the "Bull Fights" which means . . . guys having had mucho beer and muy gusto jump into a ring with bulls and pull their tail. This is a lot of fun for the audience and "drunks" until the bulls, who didn't get the memo, become pissed and charge.

This then represents a dream scape of Venice. A city I have only visited through lectures, essays, novels, films and photographs. Being an armchair tourist I have been an admirer of her architecture forever as it is some of the best in Italy. The figure represents the charm, the intoxication and mystery always associated with Venice.

This card is a reminder to all of you snow bound bunnies that the sun does exist. It is currently warming the sands and the deep blue along the southern Pacific in Costa Rica where birds and flowers are engaged in a minute by minute performance art.

A one-sided collage on a prior Cass Cafe Gallery show announcement .Cass Cafe is a great place in the heart of Detroit's Cultural Center. Food is consistently good and the changing art shows are some of the best in the city.

This then is another statement about my daily life. The flowers being a continuous presence in this beautiful lush country of Costa Rica with a nod to our five volcanoes and frequent earthquake tremors. Coffee is enjoyed in the morning while tea is the afternoon choice.

Two sides to this card. It is from: www.lostdetroit.com "Lost Detroit" tells the stories behind 12 of the city's most beautiful forgotten landmarks. Nature is returning to irreplaceable architecture that is now in ruins.

A one-sided card given over to the sensation of floating. Can be quite calming.
The flip side announces the "techno rebels," a renegade electronic funk group. This sounds like another kind of floating and probably not calming.

Two sides to this one. Metal and pressed leaf from the streets of my Pinaris neighborhood. The other side represents the heavy rains during 2010 and the many
numerous song birds inhabiting the country.

Having collected postcards for 35 years and having worked in collage for 25, it was a natural putting them together. This is a card from the Eugene O'Neill Theater in Costa Rica where the Metropolitan Opera is broadcast live in HD.
