Accordion Book - The Deep Blue
This book is devoted to the deep blue ever changing beauty of the Pacific Ocean along the Costa Rican coastline. On clear days the Pacific can be seen from the middle of the country atop the continental divide in the Monte Verde cloud forest. The deep blue is always a source of intense attraction.

Collage - "Deep Play"

This postcard shows the face of an impassioned artist that I use to represent all artists at the delicious moments when we are totally absorbed and in deep play about our insights. The cat and the scribble speak of the mystery and the initial scramble of emotions just before they jell in the action of the creative process.

Collage - "Contrary Odalisques"

In this collage Matisse's odalisque is observing her sisters in Costa Rica. Matisse rendered this beauty more as an idea of a person rather than a specific one. In Costa Rica the dark-eyed, dark-haired beauties are everywhere and are specific individuals: chatting incessantly on cellulars while struggling with skin-tight jeans, towering high heels and babes in arms. Matisse's luxe, calme et volupte is a contrary and welcome view.

Collage - "Mozart in San Jose"

God directing Mozart who in turn directs those Beethoven birds I painted two weeks ago. You can expect the unexpected in this country starting with the 9" diameter Hibiscus growing on the patio. And, si, there is a genus of Cardinal that lives in South America. This one got blown off course in Costa Rica before resuming flight.
